She's baaaaack!
And so are candlelit classes 🕯️
I am back to teaching after 4 weeks off and the return felt like coming home. As an instructor, I tell my students to listen to their body regularly. It sounds simple but can be the most challenging aspect of a movement class. We tend to compare our practice to those around us and might judge our practice from day to day, week to week, year to year. The reality is that our bodies change. Our energy levels change. Our practice will shift and transform from day to day, week to week, year to year and accepting/embracing that shift is so powerful. When you have an injury/illness, the shifts are amplified and accelerated. I am heeding my own advice and listening to what my body needs NOW which is slower movements and lots of rest. That being said, I urge you to listen to yours as well.
I hope ALL my classes are a safe space for that but there is something extra special about candlelit classes. There are no mirrors and the cozy darker space can tune out some of the visual comparisons to what others are doing. This will be my third year renting out a beautiful photography studio in downtown Grand Rapids and converting it into a comfy oasis lit entirely by (faux) candles.
The first candlelit pop-up class is scheduled for Sunday, 11/17. Tickets are available here. These usually sell out quickly. If you are one of my sweet paid subscribers, you will receive a discount on all the candlelit classes. I’ll message all paid subscribers with the promo code but don’t hesitate to reach out if you do not see it. 🕯️✨
